Milwaukee Police Officer Serious Injured During Pursuit of Carjacking Suspect
A Milwaukee Police Officer was seriously injured Saturday while deploying stop sticks in an attempt to stop a vehicle wanted for a carjacking/shooting.
According to a press release, on March 30 at about 4:06 p.m., Milwaukee officers attempted to stop a vehicle on N. 107th Street and W. Good Hope Rd in connection to a carjacking and a shooting. The driver refused to stop, and a vehicle pursuit ensued.
During the pursuit, an officer was deploying stop sticks from a median on the adjacent westbound entrance ramp in the area of N. 37th Street and W. Park Hill Ave. when the suspect vehicle jumped the median. The officer moved out of the way of the suspect vehicle; however, the officer went into the path of a pursuing squad and was subsequently struck by the squad.
The officer is a 30-year-old male with over 11 years of service. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious but non-fatal injuries. He is expected to survive.
